Maarten Bottelier – Chairman.
Maarten worked for many years in Africa for Médecins Sans Frontières. In 2002 he took the initiative to build wheelchairs in Tanzania. He has lived in Tanzania for five years.
Karel Jansen – Treasurer.
In the mid-1970s, Karel worked as a volunteer for over two years at the Credit Unions in Banso, Cameroon. Since then, he has remained active in international cooperation, including as a volunteer in the field of microfinance and for organizations such as the Liliane Fonds, Tools To Work, and East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer. Since 2026, Karel has been a member of the board of the Tanzania Wheelchairs Foundation as treasurer.
Josephine Rees – Secretary
Josephine joined the board of the Tanzania Wheelchairs Foundation in 2024 as secretary. Her involvement with the foundation stems from personal experience: having used a wheelchair herself for many years, she knows how important a suitable wheelchair is for mobility, independence, and participation in society. Based on that experience, she is committed to improving wheelchair accessibility.
